Broken Arrow, Oklahoma / November 1, 2022 – BRADEN Introduces Synthetic Rope Anchor as it continues to expand its offering of recovery winches with an anchoring solution to accommodate synthetic rope. The TR12 and TR15 utilize a Synthetic Rope Anchor (PN 113403) to securely install 7/16” (11 mm) and ½” (13 mm) synthetic rope to provide maximum pulling power with up to 40% less weight compared to steel cable. With the addition of these two models, all sizes of TR Series winches are able to be safely used with synthetic rope.

The Synthetic Rope Anchor is designed and tested for all TR12 and TR15 planetary winches with a wedge pocket (-02 drum). TR Series winches feature a compact, low profile design that can be high or low mounted for a variety of recovery applications. The TR12 (12,000 lb/5,443 kg rated line pull) and TR15 (15,000 lb/6,804 kg rated line pull) are commonly used on trailers and car carriers as well as for self-recovery in the new UBL Utility Bumper System. BRADEN has introduced this Synthetic Rope Anchor specifically to enhance these applications.

For the TR12 and TR15, BRADEN recommends the use of 12-strand single braid pre-stressed rope with breaking strength of 23,900 lb (10,841 kg) or greater. Synthetic rope should be installed on a new winch drum with all burrs and sharp edges removed. The rope should be spooled onto the drum while under tension. For best performance, synthetic rope should not be installed on drums that have previously had wire rope installed. A minimum of 8 wraps are required on the drum for pulling at maximum capacity.

Synthetic rope continues to grow in popularity for utility, towing and recovery, construction, military and other applications. Replacing traditional steel cables can drastically reduce the overall weight of any towing or utility vehicle, particularly those with multiple winches. Abrasion resistant and easy to inspect, synthetic rope is torque neutral, which means it will not twist and is much easier to handle. BRADEN’s introduction of this anchor has highlighted the advantages of synthetic rope.
