Before You Replace It: How CARCO Reman Can Extend the Life of Your Equipment

CARCO

Heavy equipment is a long-term investment. And when a winch has spent years working in demanding applications, age alone doesn’t necessarily mean it’s time to replace it.

For owners of CARCO winches, factory remanufacturing can provide another option by extending the useful life of equipment already in the fleet while restoring performance to current factory specifications.

More Than a Rebuild

There is an important difference between repairing a winch and remanufacturing it.

Through the CARCO Reman Program, eligible winches are returned to Arrowhead Winch and put through a standardized factory process that includes disassembly, inspection, resurfacing, resealing, reassembly, repainting, testing and recertification.

Standard remanufacture includes replacement of bearings, seals, friction discs, separators, springs and the brake valve. Major components such as the hydraulic motor, shafts and gears are inspected and replaced as needed at additional cost.

The result is a factory-certified CARCO winch restored to current factory specifications and backed by a one-year factory warranty.

Keep the Winch. Change the Machine.

Extending equipment life doesn’t always mean putting a winch back exactly where it came from.

Equipment fleets change. A dozer may be replaced while its winch still has years of useful service ahead of it. A machine may be moved to a different application. Or a customer may purchase newer equipment and want to make use of an existing CARCO winch
rather than purchase another one.

That’s where Reman + Conversion can add significant value.

In addition to remanufacturing the winch, Arrowhead Winch can reconfigure eligible units to work with newer or different host equipment. This gives owners the opportunity to redeploy an existing asset instead of automatically starting over with a new winch.

For equipment dealers and distributors, it also creates another option to discuss with customers during equipment replacement, dozer rebuild and fleet planning decisions.

Three Ways to Give Existing Equipment New Life

Depending on the winch, host equipment and customer requirements, the CARCO program offers three paths:

Reman — Send the existing winch to Arrowhead Winch to be restored to current factory specifications and returned for continued service.

Reman + Conversion — Restore the winch while also updating or reconfiguring it for a newer or different host machine.

Core Exchange — For eligible models and configurations, exchange an existing winch for a factory-remanufactured unit built to the required specifications, helping reduce the amount of time equipment is waiting on its original winch to be remanufactured.

Get More From the Equipment You Already Own

Choosing to remanufacture can deliver benefits beyond the initial cost savings. It can extend the service life of a proven asset, help reduce downtime and capital equipment costs, and keep usable components in service rather than replacing an entire winch.

It also provides something that can be difficult to replicate with a third-party rebuild: access to genuine CARCO components, factory specifications, product expertise and the engineering support of the original manufacturer.

Whether you’re maintaining an older machine, replacing a dozer, managing a fleet or helping a customer evaluate equipment options, don’t assume an aging CARCO winch has reached the end of its useful life.

Before you replace it, talk to your CARCO distributor or Arrowhead Winch about whether Reman, Reman + Conversion or Core Exchange can give your equipment a second life.
